On February 14, 2026, the Yamunanagar district court granted a four-day police remand for three suspects arrested in connection with a terrifying extortion-fueled shooting spree. The incidents have highlighted the growing threat of organized crime gangs operating in the region.
The Violent Spree (February 7, 2026)
The chaos began late Saturday night when three masked attackers on a motorcycle targeted two major locations in the city:
- Waryam Singh Hospital: Around 10:30 PM, the trio entered the private hospital on Railway Road and fired 13–14 rounds at the reception area. Fortunately, no staff or patients were injured.
- City Mall: Minutes later, they moved to City Mall, firing 3–4 rounds at the entrance and dropping extortion notes demanding protection money.
The Encounter (February 8, 2026)
The Yamunanagar police, led by CIA-I and CIA-II teams, launched a massive manhunt immediately.
- The Location: At 5:00 AM the following morning, the suspects were intercepted near Sudhal village (close to Kansapur).
- The Shootout: A fierce gun battle broke out, with 25–30 rounds exchanged. Two CIA in-charges, Rakesh and Rajkumar, survived direct hits thanks to their bulletproof jackets.
- The Arrests: Two suspects, Nitin and Gurlal, sustained leg injuries during the exchange, while the third, Sagar, was injured after falling from their motorcycle.
Gang Connections & Remand Goals
The suspects—residents of Karnal and Patiala—were discharged from the civil hospital before being produced in court.
- The Handler: Investigation confirms the attack was ordered by Noni Rana, the brother of jailed gangster Kala Rana. Noni Rana is believed to be directing operations from abroad.
- Remand Focus: During this 4-day remand, the police aim to:
- Identify the local logistics providers who sheltered the shooters.
- Trace the weapon supply chain (two pistols and four mobiles were recovered).
- Uncover the digital trail connecting the suspects to their overseas handlers.
